Tout commence lorsqu’Arnaud Ducasse fait l’acquisition en 1675 d’une « modeste » maison en bordure du fleuve à Pauillac ; il ignorait alors qu’elle deviendrait un grand domaine qui resterait dans le giron de sa famille durant près de trois siècles. Pierre Ducasse, avocat passionné de vin, étend alors considérablement les terres sur trois paroisses – Pauillac, Saint-Lambert et Saint-Sauveur – ainsi que sur trois seigneuries : Lafite, Latour et Beychevelle. En 1820, son fils fait construire la demeure actuelle et y adosse les installations techniques du Château face à l’Estuaire de la Gironde. Une décision audacieuse à l’époque qui fait de Grand-Puy Ducasse le seul Château vinifiant ses vins à cet emplacement depuis 200 ans. En 1855, le domaine intègre le prestigieux classement des Grands Crus Classés de 1855. Avec ses 40 hectares répartis sur 11 types de sols, on peut le considérer comme le vignoble le plus représentatif de la diversité des terroirs de Pauillac.
Depuis 2004, CA Grands Crus, filiale du groupe Crédit Agricole, s’est lancé dans un plan d’optimisation ambitieux et a entrepris d’importants investissements au vignoble afin de le restructurer. L’édification prochaine d’un nouveau cuvier et de nouveaux chais marque l’entrée dans une nouvelle ère grâce au projet « Renaissance ».

Wine is the product of ancestral know-how, which is transmitted from generation to generation in the vineyard. It is also the fruit of traditions that contribute to the strong identity of France and its international influence. Manual work is still an important part of it, which is why we are so sensitive to this living heritage.
When we initiated the #Renaissance project, we wanted to collaborate with artisans and companies that contribute to the local economic activity. MOF, companions, local craftsmen, by their know-how, also contribute to the influence of our territory. Choosing them for our project is also to allow their companies to keep their talents.

Because the #withvue on instagram has been used over 5.7 million times, we thought ... and why not us!
With this unique location on the quays of Pauillac we can enjoy both the start and finish of the Medoc Marathon, the fireworks on July 14th, the open air screenings of the Festival des Vendanges du 7ème art or admire the boats sailing on the estuary!
It would have been a shame not to let our visitors enjoy it. That's why we imagined a terrace in loggia from which they will be able to admire the unique view offered by the Château Grand-Puy Ducasse.
